Dimitri Van den Bergh did an excellent job in the first round of the Poland Darts Masters in Warsaw. 'The Dreammaker' defeated Karel Sedlacek 6-4 and will now face home favorite Krzysztof Ratajski. Against Sedlacek, 'The Dreammaker' managed to fight back from a big deficit at the start of the match.
Van den Bergh achieved over 105 average, to his opponent's almost 100. "I'm never giving up, I'm always believing in myself," Van den Bergh said post-match to Online Darts. "I really feel this was a big win. This was a big game because I know how good Karel is."
"This is such a boost for my confidence but tomorrow is a new game."
This is the first edition of the Poland Darts Masters and becoming the inaugural winner is a big aim. "Winning a title, it doesn't matter where you are it means the world. Everybody else that is playing in this tournament will say the same thing, winning this title will mean everything to us."
On Friday, delayed coverage of the first round in the UK will be on ITV4 from 9 pm to 1 am. The rest of the tournament will also be available through ITV4 on Saturday at the same time, from 9 pm to 1 am. There the quarterfinals are scheduled first, followed by the semifinals and finals.
The prize pool for this event contains a total of £60,000. However, the prize money won does not count toward the PDC Order of Merit or other money rankings.
All participants are guaranteed £1,250 in prize money. This amount could eventually rise to a sum of £20,000 in prize money for the winner.
