Shepherd had to survive a tough test against Alex Steinbauer coming through in a 6-4 victory. It was a scrappy affair with Steinbauer averaging 77 to Shepherd's 86.
Steinbauer's big moment came when he hit a 103 checkout and his doubling was better at 33 percent compared to Shepherd's 24 percent.
It was his scoring that saw him through with 2 180's and 5 140's as the former World Championship finalist got through a potential banana skin.
Van den Bergh on the other hand was supremely impressive seeing off Mark Webster with ease in a 6-3 victory. He averaged the best of the round so far with a near 102 average in a 6-3 win.
