Dimitri van den Bergh will face Jonny Clayton in the Quarter-Finals of the 2022/23 PDC World Darts Championship after breezing past his close friend and World Cup teammate, Kim Huybrechts 4-0.
Van den Bergh produced a 95 average, six 180's and 40% on the doubles in an accomplished display with no follow up from Huybrechts' brilliance against Peter Wright.
Van den Bergh started superbly with two 180’s before finally pinning double eight for a break. After an 11-darter, it was a 21-darter to hold in comparison but he went on to seal the set in a clean sweep.
Huybrechts finally got a leg on the board with a 42 checkout. Double eight pinned by Huybrechts saw him double his lead. An 82 checkout saw Van den Bergh turn it around though and he was throwing for 2-0 in sets.
Van den Bergh missed a set dart but Huybrechts returned the favour with 79 missed and the former returned for 2-0.
Van den Bergh went 2-1 up and hit a 52 checkout to seal the set to go 3-0 up. He went one away on double seven. He missed two match darts but Huybrechts didn’t pin one dart at 116 and Van den Bergh returned for double two.
