Dimitri Van den Bergh failed to qualify for the final of the PDC
World Darts Championship for the first time in his career. 'The Dreammaker' lost 6-0 to Michael van Gerwen in the semi-finals.
During the match, there was a brief altercation between Van den Bergh and Van Gerwen. "I won't go into it further. I tried to be a professional darter, kept fighting and never gave up. Unfortunately I wasn't able to show how good I am, it just didn't come out on stage tonight," Van den Bergh told VTM 2.
Big lesson
"This is a big lesson," continued the 28-year-old Belgian. "But I can look back on a great World Championship and am already looking ahead to the new year, where I want to come back stronger than ever."
Van den Bergh is also tipped as a contender to be invited to the Premier League. "But I didn't think about that for a second during the World Championship. My focus was just on the World Championship itself, what may or may not come out in the coming weeks we'll see."
