Lowe has no sympathy for Price after ear defenders incident: "What he did have was his own karma"

Gerwyn Price's action of playing with ear defenders on continues to stir tempers. John Lowe, three-time former world champion with the BDO, has now also had his say on social media.

Price decided to suddenly start playing with ear defenders on in the middle of the quarter-final against Gabriel Clemens, this to counter the whistling from the crowd.

"My first reaction when he came out with them on in the fifth set was to smile, a joke I thought then I realized he was for real. It was intentional, a bigger smile, he had managed to turn the biggest event in World Darts into a pantomime," said Lowe.

"The real truth is he did not play well enough to bother Gabriel Clemens after the first set, the German outclassed him. As for the crowds behaviour towards Price which resulted in him wearing ear plugs that began in the Grand Slam. Gerwyn openly said they don't like it up them obviously aimed at the two players.

"He should have realized that both those top players (Whitlock and Anderson) had many loyal supporters in the audience. The paying fans do not forget, Clemens had massive support from German fans, Price was outclassed on stage, outnumbered in the audience. What he did have was his own karma at fault."
