Dimitri van den Bergh Final EDO22 3
Dimitri van den Bergh spurned handfuls of match darts last year to defeat Fallon Sherrock and reach the final of the Nordic Darts Masters but on returning to the tournament, 'The Dreammaker' said it is more about getting another chance to showcase his talent after his opening win over Benjamin Drue Reus 6-0.
"I think I did the right things at the right times. Didn't really miss too much on my doubles, my mind was strong. Step up but don't underestimate your opponent and I think that's the reason I managed to win the game how I did," he said to Online Darts.
"The emotions were I've been picked again by the PDC, once again they said Dimitri is part of the World Series, that alone for me is a massive honour so that's what I'm focused on. They give me chances I'll take it, I'll give my best and I want to make the best out of it and come on I managed to get to the semi-final that's the only positive. Doesn't matter if I lost to Fallon (Sherrock), Michael (van Gerwen) or Jonny Clayton, it doesn't matter. This year I've got a new chance."
He is taking it tournament by tournament with the next one on his horizon being the World Cup of Darts.
"Matchplay and me at the moment is going well together but never forget about the World Cup of Darts, that's going to be next week. Tomorrow the next round then focus on the floor tournaments then it's the World Cup. Plenty of time, plenty of chances. I want to do well in the build up in the Matchplay."
As well, he also discussed not being picked for the Premier League and was honest that he didn't deserve his spot.
"You've got to be a winner, if I'd done what Luke Humphries has done this year then you'll get a chance but so far when you want to be in the Premier League, you've got to perform when it comes to the majors. It's about being in the final or winning it when it comes to the majors."
