Van der Voort after reaching World Matchplay Quarter-Finals for first time since 2009: "That showed what I can do when I'm healthy and on form"

Vincent van der Voort is through to the World Matchplay Quarter-Finals for the first time since 2009 after seeing off Daryl Gurney in an 11-5 win.
Van der Voort has a major chance to produce a phenomenal run this week with the tournament blown wide open and he said for him in particular the first few legs showed exactly what he can do when he is at his best.
“It was a good win. I was practising so well, but you never know what goes on on stage," said 'The Dutch Destroyer' post match to Online Darts.
“The first five legs I played amazing. That showed what I can do when I’m healthy and on form.”

- I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024

If you want to see crowd passion... watch a match when German and Dutch players face off... that can be just as bad if not worse for crowd noises.
