The next two players through to the second round at the European Championship have been confirmed with Chris Dobey and Nathan Aspinall proving too good.
It was 47 percent on the doubles for Dobey compared to 27 for Aspinall. Ratajski was seen as a potential winner of the tournament due to Van Gerwen going out but he couldn’t produce his best when it mattered against ‘Hollywood’.
Despite some good darts from Ratajski, it was that doubling that made the difference in the end with Dobey capitalising on mistakes.
Aspinall on the other hand produced high checkouts of 170 and 125 en route to a brilliant victory over Steve Beaton.
Beaton was only kept in it by Aspinall missing chances to win and he even produced some vintage Bronzed Adonis in the end to peg him back. In the end though, ‘The Asp’ got over the line to confirm his status as a player to watch.
