Van Duijvenbode dumps out Cross in sudden death decider

Dirk van Duijvenbode is through to the Third Round of the 2020/21 PDC World Darts Championship after seeing off Rob Cross in a sudden death decider.

Van Duijvenbode took out 99 in the sudden death leg to knock out the 2018 champion with a 95.5 average and seven 180's en route to victory.

Cross claimed first blood in the tie as he sealed the opening set 3-1 with a 90 checkout averaging 104.8 which after the first two matches of the evening saw a high quality start to proceedings.

But this ascent was short lived for Cross as Van Duijvenbode coasted to the second set without reply to level the tie.

'Voltage' though returned to the front in a third set decider to reclaim the lead as he looked to head towards the finishing line but all he got was a deciding set.

Once more Van Duijvenbode coasted to the fourth set without reply and set up a thrilling conclusion. This was even more the case with the duo trading 180's before Van Duijvenbode hit two double eight's to send it all the way. This proved vital as he went onto smash in that 99 checkout for a superb victory.
