Devon Petersen is through to the Third Round of the 2020/21 PDC World Darts Championship but like in the opening match of the night between Danny Noppert and Cameron Carolissen, missed doubles were a big theme.
Petersen came through 3-1 with seven 180's but it was the 72 missed darts at double between them throughout the tie which was the main talking point. Next up will be Michael Smith or Jason Lowe for 'The African Warrior' though.
The missed doubles were on display in the opening set with Lennon squandering nine darts at double in the decider and Petersen hit double one to hit the front.
It was a similar story in the next set with Petersen once again making the steal after two missed set darts from Lennon in the deciding leg and despite both players missing a lot of darts at double, Petersen looked to be heading towards the next round.
It was his turn though to falter with Petersen missing seven for the match and Lennon came back to halve the deficit.
After not being able to hit any, Petersen smashed in back to back checkouts of 121 and 105 to double his lead in the fourth set and concluded the tie from there with Lennon missing more darts at double and Petersen returned for a 60 checkout finished on double 10 for the win.
