Dirk van Duijvenbode is through to the Quarter-Finals at the European Championship after seeing off Michael Smith in a 10-8 victory.
It was an excellent comeback from Van Duijvenbode who came from 6-3 down and 8-6 to claim it and book a tie with Jonny Clayton on Saturday evening.
Van Duijvenbode took the early initiative in his tie against Smith hitting a 177 and double eight and hit a 95 checkout to double his advantage.
He held his throw with back-to-back 12 dart legs with a 94 finish for a 3-0 lead but missed darts allowed Smith to reduce the deficit to 3-2.
Four legs on the spin gave Smith the lead with a break at 4-3 up and he held his throw from there to wrestle control at 5-3 up. He broke once more after three missed darts at doubles to make it 6-3.
Van Duijvenbode had a catalyst though going into the interval with an 86 checkout to make it 6-4. He held his throw after Smith missed a chance to break throw and it was 6-5.
Smith regained the two leg cushion though at 7-5 and went on to make it 8-6 as he looked to head towards the finishing line. But he missed the bull for a 121 checkout and Van Duijvenbode followed it up a 180 with double 16 to tie it up at 8-8.
'Bully Boy' bust his score and this allowed The Titan to go one away suddenly with a hold. A 110 checkout with Smith left on 47 ready to pounce saw the Dutchman come through.
