Wright fends off late comeback to see off Price and reach European Championship Quarter-Finals

Peter Wright is through to the Quarter-Finals at European Championship after fending off a late comeback from Gerwyn Price in a thrilling tie in Oberhausen.

Wright won through 10-6 with a 102.7 average and seven 180's in a high quality clash between two of the World's best which saw the World Champion come out on top.

Wright led Price early on at 2-1 with the later taking out 102 to trail and at the break, it was still advantage to 'Snakebite' who broke the throw to go ahead at 3-2 up.

He used that as a catalyst though and returned from the break to take command in the tie with an 87 checkout for an 11-darter and a 5-3 lead.

He broke throw once more at 6-3 up on double nine with Price missing the chance at a 127 to hold. By the next interval, he was four clear and seemingly cruising towards the finishing line at 7-3 up.

He went one away at 9-3 up but Price aimed to get himself back into the tie following this with a 148 checkout in a last gasp effort.

A 127 checkout and an 80 checkout saw him reduce these arrears further to 9-6 but he missed the chance to convert a 92 checkout to keep himself in proceedings from there and he claimed a 10-6 win.
