Dirk van Duijvenbode is through to the Quarter-Finals of the 2020/21 PDC World Darts Championship continuing his brilliant year after producing a fightback to defeat Glen Durrant in a 4-3 win.

Van Duijvenbode was 3-1 down against Durrant but turned it around to win 4-3 in a sudden death win. He hit four ton plus checkouts including yet another 170, nine 180's and 32% on the doubles as he set up a tie with Gary Anderson.

It was three breaks in three legs between the pair as Durrant looked to hold to claim the opening set. He missed initially two at double 20 but Van Duijvenbode couldn’t make a dent in 123 and Durrant claimed it to go 1-0 up.

Van Duijvenbode broke to begin the second set but Durrant was back with a 154 after the Dutchman missed his opportunity to hold.

Another opportunity went begging for a break for Van Duijvenbode and Durrant was back for a 72 checkout and a 2-1 lead.

159 followed by double 16 saw Van Duijvenbode claim his first hold of throw as he sent the first set all the way. Durrant applied pressure on Van Duijvenbode and he allowed him back with a last dart at hand double 20.

A 72 checkout saw Durrant hit the front in set three with a break. But Van Duijvenbode hit the front at 2-1 up with a 96 checkout to break as he hunted a first set.

Durrant started to struggle on the doubles and despite Van Duijvenbode missing 132 for the set on double 16, he was back to pin two double eights for the set.

A 129 checkout saw a break to begin the fourth set for Van Duijvenbode and his brilliance continue as he left 52 from a 130 to hold.

He missed the opportunity though but Durrant didn’t take out 80. Van Duijvenbode couldn’t finish either and Durrant pinned double 10 to break back.

Durrant held from there to go 2-1 up. Van Duijvenbode missed double 18 for a 71 checkout and Durrant pounced on double 10 to go 3-1 up in sets.

A timely 180 from Durrant attempted to unseat Van Duijvenbode but he hit a 113 checkout to hold his throw. Both were on perspective nine-dart finishes but while Durrant didn’t have a shot at 147, Van Duijvenbode was slack and Durrant pinned 48 to level.

Durrant missed three darts to send it to a decider and Van Duijvenbode was back with a 92 with two double 18’s for the set.

Duzza held with a 43 checkout as he claimed the first hold he needed. Van Duijvenbode busted 32 but Durrant missed two for a break of throw from 66 and the former returned for a final dart double eight.

Durrant missed double 16 for a 70 checkout to go one away and Van Duijvenbode pinned a 170 checkout to go 2-1 up. He pinned double 16 to claim the set.

Durrant hit a potentially timely double 10 to break throw and go one up. But he missed a timely opportunity from 67 missing doubles to go 2-0 up and towards the finishing line and Van Duijvenbode tied it up.

With Durrant not on a finish, Van Duijvenbode left 32 from 123 which he pinned to go within a leg. Durrant pinned double two to send it to sudden death in which Van Duijvenbode had the throw.

He left 81 but didn’t get a shot. Durrant went treble 16 for a 100 checkout and this proved the wrong decision as Van Duijvenbode pinned double six for the win.
