Van Duijvenbode seals first ever ranking win over Van Barneveld as Chisnall begins title defence with Evans win

Dirk van Duijvenbode has qualified for the third round at the Belgian Darts Open at the expense of Raymond van Barneveld.

'Barney' missed too many chances on the doubles to come close to victory as Van Duijvenbode seals his first ranking win over the Dutch legend.

Van Barneveld, for example, missed three chances to take a 2-0 lead and then also missed five chances for a 4-2 lead. 'Barney' then did get himself broken by a 13-darter from Van Duijvenbode in the seventh leg.

Van Duijvenbode then also saw his compatriot miss a dart for 4-4, before Van Duijvenbode took the lead to 5-3 with a fine 90 finish. 'Aubergenius' then sealed it with an 88 finish.

Defending champion Dave Chisnall was hardly troubled by Ricky Evans. After 'Chizzy' took a break in the fifth leg, he stepped on the accelerator with an 11-darter and two 13-darters to bring a 6-2 final score to the scoreboard with a 100 average.
