Dirk van Duijvenbode lost 10-8 to Michael van Gerwen in the fourth round of the 2025 UK Open Darts on Friday night. However, 'Aubergenius' showed well with no fewer than twelve 180 scores.
There was even a passage in the match in which Van Duijvenbode managed to throw thirteen perfect arrows in a row. The darter from 's-Gravenzande started the fifteenth leg with an 83 score, but then managed to throw two 180s in a row. He then threw 58 with two arrows, making it eight perfect darts in a row in that leg.
Van Duijvenbode then started the sixteenth leg with a 180, bringing his series of perfect darts to eleven. He then also threw triple 20 twice in the second turn of leg 16, before a dart in the single 20 broke his series. Van Duijvenbode cleverly managed to come back to 9-8 after falling behind 7-3, but missed three chances to force a deciding leg.
