Van Gerwen and Cross ease through to confirm Quarter-Final lineup at Melbourne Darts Masters

Michael van Gerwen is through after a routine win over qualifier Tim Pusey as he aims to end his World Series duck so far this year.

Van Gerwen will take on Gary Anderson in the Quarter-Finals after a 6-2 win where he averaged 93 and hit four 180's.

'Mighty Mike' started well going 2-0 up with successive 180's and a 12-darter as it started to look ominous. This though was thwarted with Van Gerwen's double trouble sneaking into the foray allowing Pusey to break and half the deficit.

He continue to give Van Gerwen a game making it parity at 2-2 and holding his throw in the process. Van Gerwen though restored daylight at 4-2 up and after Pusey missed a huge chance to make it 4-3 by not hitting the big number he returned to go one away.

The writing was on the wall at that point and MVG secured his progression in what was a routine win in the end.

The same can be said for Rob Cross who won by the same scoreline against TV debutant Robbie King to continue his good form as of late which saw him only just miss out on the Brisbane crown to the impressive Damon Heta.

King was in dreamland to start it off breaking the Cross throw on his debut but it didn't get much better for him from there. Cross hit three straight legs to go 3-1 up but King kept himself in it to trial 4-2.

The Australian wired darts for a 116 checkout and similar to MVG, the writing was on the wall and Cross surged to a 6-2 win looking good in the process.
