Michael van Gerwen and Glen Durrant will meet each other on Tuesday evening during the second round of the World Matchplay.

It's a clash between the reigning PDC World Champion (Van Gerwen) and the most recent Lakeside champion (Durrant). It's only the fourth time, one-offs (Match of the Century) excluded, that the two champions from both organisations are going to clash during a big televised tournament.
The last time a reigning PDC and BDO champion met was in 2014, when Van Gerwen played against Stephen Bunting at the World Grand Prix. Mark Webster (Lakeside champion) and John Part (PDC champion) faced each other during the Grand Slam of Darts in 2008.
Phil Taylor took on Jelle Klaasen in 2006 during the International Darts League. 'The Cobra' claimed a 7-6 win over 'The Power' at this occasion.
Van Gerwen and Durrant both won three world titles. The Dutchman claimed the title at Alexandra Palace in 2014, 2017 and 2019. Durrant grabbed the Lakeside trophy in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
