Peter Wright continues his unbeaten run as of late as he edges past Vincent van der Voort to finish off the first round at the World Matchplay in Blackpool.

Wright claimed three events in a row over the past week and continued in that rich vein of form here against the Dutch Destroyer, he hit a a a 102 average, six 180s and a high checkout of 164 en route to a 10-5 victory.
To start the contest, Van der Voort had a brilliant start opening up a 2-0 lead on Wright but 'Snakebite' came back smashing in a 164 checkout to half the deficit. From there, he went on a three leg spell to take the lead 3-2 averaging 108.
VvdV ended the run of legs to trail 4-3 but missed darts from the Dutchman proved costly as Wright went into a 5-3 lead. Wright kept gaining a two leg lead only to be pegged back and that continued with Van der Voort holding firm at 5-4 behind. It was 6-4 to Wright though at the second interval as he missed a 170 checkout but restored his advantage.
From there he finally opened up a three leg gap at 8-5 up taking a pivotal break. He followed that up with a 91 checkout to go one away from the victory.
Wright claimed the victory in the end on his fourth match dart after Van der Voort had missed multiple doubles to hold throw.
