Michael van Gerwen booked his place in the quarter-finals at the World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam after seeing off Gerwyn Price.
Price had not beat the Dutchman in their first eighteen meetings, but came close in their last few matches. Van Gerwen won three of the last four clashes after a leg-decider, while Price also claimed a draw during the Premier League. Also this time Mighty Mike had to work for his money.
The Welshman went into the break with a 3-2 lead, but Van Gerwen broke back in the eighth leg with a 12-darter. A 12-dart leg also put the world number one just one leg away from victory. However The Iceman forced a leg-decider after producing a fine 129 checkout. Van Gerwen had the throw in the last leg and he took this advantage as he hit a 15-dart leg to claim the victory.
Krzysztof Ratajski caused another upset in Amsterdam, after defeating Nathan Aspinall in the first round on Friday. The Polish Eagle knocked out Daryl Gurney 6-4 to advance into the last eight.
