Van Gerwen comes up with witty answer to question on whether he would swap 2022 titles for world title

Michael van Gerwen was asked during his press conference after his victory over Lewy Williams (3-0) in the second round of the World Darts Championship whether he would exchange his titles of 202 for the world title. At first, 'Mighty Mike' could not decide on that.

''That's a difficult one, I dare not answer that. I got a lot of pleasure out of doing well at those tournaments this year,'' Van Gerwen responded.
The world number three then came up with a witty reply. ''I wouldn't want to swap them, but rather do this one with them. That's just a little bit different.''

- Yeah it was exciting when it started back around 05. Now its just a punish every week. Take it up to 12 players, and bottom 2 drop out after everyone has played once. No need for finals etc every week. At that stage make it first to 7 instead of 6 to take up the timeslot.Cameron.W14-03-2026
