Van Gerwen extends flawless head-to-head record against Price to reach Champions League of Darts final in thrilling encounter

Michael van Gerwen is through to the Champions League of Darts final with victory over Gerwyn Price to once again extend his flawless record over 'The Iceman'.

Price looked to be getting over the line but just couldn't and now Van Gerwen will now face Peter Wright in the final in another familiar tie for the World Number One. After a strenuous game, could 'Snakebite' have the advantage?

Van Gerwen claimed an early advantage with 88 for a 3-1 lead but Price ended up staying in touch with a 76 checkout at 3-2 behind. It was a big leg for Price before the break with him holding his throw to stay within touching distance at 4-3 behind at the break.

Despite that Van Gerwen smashed in a 120 checkout to surge ahead again as he looked to claim an important break. Price hit a clutch double two to go back to one behind.

A 65 checkout saw Price claim a break of throw, he hit a 162 set up shot and pinned double 10 first round to go 6-5 ahead. With Price well back, Van Gerwen hit a 12 darter with a 106 checkout to put it back on level pegging again.

Van Gerwen capitalised on missed darts by Price to break himself with a 72 checkout. Price broke back after Van Gerwen himself buckled on double 18; at the second break it was finely poised at 7-7.

MVG came out and steamed through the first leg to break with an 81 checkout but again it was a 74 checkout from Price which saw him break again.

Price finally held again with double 20 to go 9-8 up and two away. Van Gerwen popped back with an 85 checkout but again Price held with a 44 checkout.

Van Gerwen held throw with Price waiting to have a leg on throw in the decider. This proved fatal with MVG having an outstanding leg to break throw and claim yet another victory.
