Michael van Gerwen has extended his lead atop the
Premier League Darts standings after sealing his third weekly win of the season in Leeds.
Van Gerwen sits on 22 points ahead of Jonny Clayton and Peter Wright (19 and 18 points). With James Wade who reached the final continuing to revive his fortunes sitting in the top four.
Gary Anderson after having to withdraw with COVID-19 sits bottom with Gerwyn Price and Michael Smith just ahead of him as the battle for the play-offs continues into the final part of action.
New format
The eight participants play a tournament sixteen times. It will be arranged so that a player meets the other participants twice in the quarter-finals. During two weeks of play, in the eighth and sixteenth week, the draw is determined by league standings heading into each night.
Points can be scored with results in the sixteen tournaments. A semi-final earns two points, a second place three points and a tournament win five points and a £10,000 bonus. Based on these points the new Premier League Darts ranking is formed. The four best players advance to the Premier League Darts play-offs.
