🗣 "When you're a winner, you have to stand in front of the microphone as well and when you lose you have to do it as well." Michael van Gerwen shows true class in defeat, and he's full of praise for Dave Chisnall 👏 #⃣ #WHDarts #LoveTheDarts
Michael van Gerwen once more won't make it four World Championship titles after a stunning defeat to Dave Chisnall who romped to a 5-0 victory in one of the most dominant displays seen on the Alexandra Palace stage.
Van Gerwen despite the heavy defeat took time out to speak to Sky Sports afterwards and heaped praise on the St Helens ace while admitting he was far from his best also.
"It was a difficult match, I knew that before and when Dave is in form you have to work hard to beat him but I didn't show up. I let myself down and I'm gutted, it's something to think about in the next few days. It's the best Dave's ever played, fair play to him," said Van Gerwen to Sky Sports.
"It is the best he's ever played, I know that by fact. Every opportunity he had, he took. I didn't turn up, my scoring power wasn't there and I was even looking to my stats and that's nothing like my game. Well done Dave and I played crap."
