Van Gerwen UK Open 2021
The third PDC Super Series is set to begin on Saturday at the H+ Hotel in Niedernhausen, Germany with the entries now released ahead of Players Championship 9-12.
There will be over 100 PDC Tour Card holders involved which means that many including most Premier League stars have chose not to travel.
26 players in all have decided not to travel including the likes of Gary Anderson, Glen Durrant, Gerwyn Price, Peter Wright and Jonny Clayton who all previously revealed during the Premier League that they wouldn't be heading to Germany.
This is due in part to the mandatory 10-day quarantine on return due to new rule regarding elite athletes and the exemptions in place.
Also joining those aforementioned players are Martin Atkins (Wigan), Brett Claydon, Joe Cullen, Jeffrey de Zwaan, Wesley Harms, Jason Heaver, Jake Jones, Daniel Larsson, Adrian Lewis, Mark McGeeney, Jesus Noguera, Darren Penhall and Cristo Reyes.
As well as Keegan Brown, Kirk Shepherd, Callan Rydz, James Wade, Scott Waites, Darren Webster, Steve West and James Wilson.
This in turn has presented opportunities to Q-School Order of Merit players including Robert Thornton, Benito van de Pas, Christian Kist, Mike Warburton and Rene Eidams among others to be involved.
The latter has been spending the past few days in the same venue involved in the German Super League.
Of those who will turn up, Michael van Gerwen is the leading light with the World Number Three who missed the last Super Series block aiming to register his first title of the season.
Raymond van Barneveld already has and will be involved. As will the likes of Dimitri van den Bergh, Nathan Aspinall, Jose de Sousa, Rob Cross and Dave Chisnall with the former trio in particular like MVG still involved in the Premier League.
Prize money as usual will stand at £75,000 per event and play begins for the first three events at 1pm BST (2pm CET) and on the final day at 11am BST (12:00pm CET).
As usual, follow it along on our Live Blog on all four days in Niedernhausen with up to date results throughout.
