Michael van Gerwen heads into the Premier League this year hoping to write the wrongs of 2020 where Mighty Mike failed to reach the play-offs for the first time.
Van Gerwen spoke on the eve of the Premier League not only about the start of the darting roadshow but players producing their best against him.
"I don't want to call it that way. Last year was unusual I think for a lot of players, it wasn't good. I played really poorly, to play nine or ten days in a row, that doesn't help. Now it's totally different, I think I'm also in better form," said Van Gerwen.
"Other players sometimes do the right things at the right moments against me and I need to make sure I'm going to start doing that and sometimes you play against players who play absolutely the best game ever or of the year but I'm feeling good."
"If I'm going into a tournament, I'm not there like it used to be to beat Raymond (van Barneveld) or Phil (Taylor), I'm there to win a tournament. That's where they go wrong, they can win a game but to do that constantly, you need to be consistent over the whole tournament and not only one game because that doesn't make you a winner."
MVG on Wright comments
Van Gerwen also touched on a hot topic in the darting world which is Peter Wright's comments about MVG not winning a TV tournament in his mind this year.
"We all know I'm a danger to them and they know that as well. Peter is a phenomenal player, he always says things there's no need to say."
"He loves me too much. If you keep talking about someone, you must be in his head."
