Van Gerwen surges past Van Barneveld in Double Dutch duel, Price averages 106 in Schindler rout

The second round continues to head towards its conclusion in Minehead at the Players Championship Finals with Michael van Gerwen and Gerwyn Price among those through to the Last 16.

Van Gerwen faced off against Raymond van Barneveld in a highly anticipated Double Dutch duel between two of the greatest exports of the Netherlands.

It was Mighty Mike who got the better of his compatriot in a 6-3 victory in a high quality affair which saw a 95.6 average from MVG and 95.5 from Barney.

But it was 60% on the doubles which proved pivotal as he won through to a tie with Gary Anderson with Van Barneveld only hitting 3/7 en route to defeat.

While Price wasted no time in easing past Martin Schindler 6-1 averaging 106.6 with five 180's en route as 'The Iceman' laid down a marker.

A title he has never won but can he claim it this weekend to make it back to back majors ahead of his World Championship defence.

Over on Stage Two, Luke Humphries edged past Ross Smith 6-5 with a 96.7 average and a high checkout of 146. As well as Damon Heta easing through past a poor Gabriel Clemens 6-2 to book his spot.
