Michael van Gerwen advanced to the last four of the Euro Tour tournament in Riesa with ease. In the quarter-finals of the
International Darts Open he beat Peter Wright 6-0.
Van Gerwen was deadly on the doubles in this match. In the entire match "Mighty Mike" missed only one dart on the outer ring. With a 14-darter, 70 finish and an 80 check-out, Van Gerwen quickly got two breaks ahead against his Scottish rival.
Wright missed one chance on the bullseye in the fourth leg, after which Van Gerwen hit 48 for 4-0. The Dutchman then hit double 16 twice to finish the job in six legs.
The semi-final match will feature
Martin Schindler, who reached the semi-finals for the first time in his career on a
European Tour. The German was too strong for Jonny Clayton 6-3 sending the crowd into raptures in Riesa.
