Michael van Gerwen's wait for a title in 2021 continues with a defeat in the semi-finals of the
World Matchplay going down 17-10 to Peter Wright.
But Van Gerwen held his hands up in defeat despite of course being disappointed not to move through.
"At the defining moments I just let myself down, I can only blame myself for that."
''But to be fair, Peter played fantastically well. That is of course on his merit and you just have to respect that," said Van Gerwen to RTL 7.
Come back stronger
Still, Van Gerwen won't give up. "It certainly wasn't great for me yet, but Peter needed an average of 110 to beat me. I will keep working hard in the coming months and definitely come back stronger."
