Luke Littler is not only stringing together titles this year, 'The Nuke' is also throwing nine darters as if it doesn't were nothing. Barely halfway through the season, the counter already stands at four perfect legs.
No one ever managed to throw four nine darters so quickly on the PDC circuit. Another record is up for grabs, as never before has a darter managed to throw five nine-darters in one calendar year on the PDC circuit. Littler has several more months to add at least one more nine-darter to his annual total.
There is a chance that the record will be tightened considerably. ''How many nine-darters will 'The Nuke' throw this year?'' his manager Martin Foulds then asked on Instagram. He also posted a video of all the nine darters Littler has thrown so far in 2024.
The 17-year-old teenage sensation threw his first perfect leg of the season at the Bahrain Darts Masters in January. In the first leg of his quarterfinal against Nathan Aspinall at the Bahrain Darts Masters, Littler managed to become the youngest player ever to throw a nine-darter at a professional event. Michael van Gerwen was the outgoing record holder. Van Gerwen was 17 years and 298 days old when he threw a nine-darter at the 2007 Masters of Darts. Littler accomplished his feat two days before his 17th birthday.
Littler's second nine-darter followed his debut on the Pro Tour in February. He threw a perfect leg in the final leg of his match against Italian Tour Card holder Michele Turetta. Also in his debut at a Euro Tour tournament in March, Littler managed to finish a leg in nine arrows. Rob Cross had to watch 'The Nuke' produce a nine-darter in the final of the Belgian Darts Open.
The fourth nine-darter was scored in the final of Premier League Darts against Luke Humphries. The perfect leg came when it was 5-5 between the two Englishmen. Later, Littler would go on to win the final 11-7, winning the Premier League Darts at the age of 17.
