Luke Littler has regained the lead on the
World Series Order of Merit after the
US Darts Masters. 'The Nuke' took over the leading position from
Michael van Gerwen.
Littler won the Bahrain Darts Masters earlier this year by defeating Van Gerwen in the final. At the Dutch Darts Masters in Den Bosch, 'Mighty Mike' repaid the young Englishman in equal measure by winning the Dutch Darts Masters at Littler's expense. This put both players on 20 points after two World Series tournaments.
In New York, Littler managed to reach the semifinals, while Van Gerwen was eliminated in the quarterfinals by eventual tournament winner
Rob Cross. Littler picked up five points at the US Darts Masters and is now on top with 25 points, while Van Gerwen is on 23 points.
US Darts Masters champion Cross collected 12 points in the United States, climbing to fourth place with 16 points. 'Voltage' is also ahead of Gerwyn Price. Price is third with eighteen points.
The top eight on the World Series Order of Merit are guaranteed participation in the World Series Finals in Amsterdam at the end of the season. Over the next few months, World Series tournaments will first be played in Denmark, Poland, Australia and New Zealand.
Winning a World Series tournament earns 12 points toward the World Series Order of Merit. The losing finalist receives eight points and semifinalists five points. Reaching the quarterfinals is valued with three points, and players who lose their first game still receive one point.
