Kai Gotthardt stormed into the second round of the PDC World Darts Championship 2025 on Monday afternoon with a convincing 3-1 win over Alan Soutar. However, the German was the star of an incredible scene on his Ally Pally debut: Gotthardt had to leave the stage in the fourth leg of the first set because his dart had broken in half.

The Sky Sports cameras followed the 29-year-old into the catacombs of the Ally Pally as he organized a replacement dart. Watch the curious scene in the video below.

Ironically this was the catalyst for his return to the foray as he went on to come from a set down to win. He moves through on his Ally Pally debut.

Heartbreak for Alan Soutar and Dart Breaks for Kai Gotthardt is perhaps the tale of the tape. He has shown though that on his debut he can deal with one of the worst darting possibilities and pass it with flying colours.
