Cameron Menzies has qualified for the Last 16 of the International Darts Open. The 35-year-old Scot beat James Wade 6-5 in the second round after a particularly exciting match. His opponent in the next round is fourth-seeded Stephen Bunting.

At 5-5, the final leg of the match had to decide the match. Traditionally the players wish each other luck before such a decisive leg by giving a handshake or a fist. Menzies wanted to do the same, extended his hand toward Wade, but Wade ostentatiously turned away to start the leg.

However, Menzies then took revenge by winning that decisive leg. He kept his revelry in check and turned to offer Wade his hand in a show of sportsmanship. For a moment, it looked like Wade was going to reject his opponent again before he accepted the handshake and patted the Scot on the shoulder before walking away.

Wade is known for not mincing his words. Earlier this week, he also revealed that he did not understand the selection of Nathan Aspinall and Chris Dobey for the 2025 Premier League Darts. It wasn't a criticism," said Wade. "It was an opinion. There's a couple of reasons why one of them got in and that would be Nathan (Aspinall)."

“Do I think he should have been in this year? No, I don't. But I know why they put him in. He's reliable and he's good at what he does. The crowd do like him.

“I think probably there's another player that should have gone in his place and the same again for Chris Dobey. I think there could have been other players.
