Just a few weeks after
a highly contentious win over Joe Cullen at the 2026 PDC World Darts Championship brought allegations of cheating,
Mensur Suljovic has been caught up in another storm as he saw off
Jermaine Wattimena to reach the last 32 of the
2026 UK Open in Minehead,
Suljovic and Wattimena were tied 4-4 at the time, when the experienced Austrian paused the contest to give his opponent a verbal dressing down. Whether he was calling Wattimena a cheat, or slightly annoyed at being called a cheat by the Dutchman isn't quite clear and has split opinion among darting fans online.
As mentioned, this isn't the first time Suljovic has been caught up in such a controversy of late. The Austrian was involved in a real storm at the Ally Pally last December, with
Joe Cullen going so far as to call the former World Matchplay finalist a cheat in a viral social media post afterwards.
"If that’s darts , I don’t want no part of it!"
Cullen wrote on X at the time. "Always liked Mensur away from the board but that was plain for all to see! I don’t think I’m alone in feeling this way. The old guard will say it’s part of the game but word it how you will - it’s CHEATING! That’s not darts."
