Nathan Aspinall was on his way to something very nice Sunday at a demonstration tournament in Edinburgh, but ended up stranded in sight of the harbour.
In the Scottish capital, Aspinall faced off against Scottish darts legend Gary Anderson in a packed house. However, it was 'The Asp' who managed to steal the show with eight perfect darts in a row.
The Englishman was then allowed to dock for a nine darter, but missed the double. Anderson seemed to count him in, because "The Flying Scotsman" already put his hands in the air, but in vain. After missing the nine darter, Aspinall collapsed to the ground, then apologised to the Scottish fans.
Later, the two-time major winner did have reason to cheer, as he managed to beat Anderson. They were not the only two well-known darters in Edinburgh, with Daryl Gurney and John Henderson also in attendance. That match was won 4-3 by Henderson.
