In the run-up to the resumption of this year's Premier League Darts on April 19, DartsNews takes a look back on how each player has started the tournament with the attention turning to James Wade this time.
Wade had an interesting route into this year's tournament with a lot feeling he should have been in the line-up due to form last year, not only his recent UK Open victory.
But he filled the void when Gerwyn Price tested positive for Covid-19 a day prior to the tournament. Despite three home tests coming out negative, 'The Iceman' has had to sit out this year's tournament.
It has been mixed fortunes as well for the recent UK Open champion who drew to start his campaign against Gary Anderson. He followed that up with defeat against Rob Cross 7-3 averaging 88.
It was back-to-back as he lost out to Nathan Aspinall 7-4 before a stunning win over Michael van Gerwen 7-3 which was unexpected especially as MVG produced a 107 average the prior night.
He ended the current block in winning form seeing off Glen Durrant 7-3 and his mixed fortunes has gleamed seventh spot so far.
Not out of play-off contention yet but likely needing a near perfect run to guarantee the play-offs. As we know, if one player can do it, it's 'The Machine'.
