Ryan Joyce produced an exceptionally rare checkout during a match, one that is seldom seen even at the highest level of darts. The Englishman recorded a 150 checkout via three bullseyes on Friday in his match against Christian Kist at the Baltic Sea Darts Open, but perhaps even more striking was his reaction afterwards: barely any emotion.

In the darts world, a 180 is often seen as the ultimate crowd-pleaser, but technically there are checkouts that are at least as difficult, if not harder. Joyce proved that with an extremely rare bullseye combination.
The 40-year-old Englishman was on 150 and did not opt for the conventional route via treble 20. Instead, he threw three darts straight into the bullseye, worth 50 points each and therefore exactly the required score to win the leg.
Such a checkout is scarcely witnessed at the top level. Not only because of the degree of difficulty, but also because players on 150 almost always choose a route via trebles. The bullseye is, after all, the smallest scoring segment on the dartboard and offers far less margin than, for instance, treble 20.
That is precisely why Joyce’s checkout drew admiration from fans and pundits. Where many players would celebrate exuberantly after such a moment, the Englishman remained remarkably composed about the feat.
After hitting the third bull, Joyce calmly turned towards his table. No roar, no extended celebration, just a slight smile betrayed that he too realized how special the checkout had been.
It ultimately proved to be the key leg of the match, as Kist was waiting for a break at 3-3. Joyce held throw and went on to win the match 6-3.
