Vincent van der Voort is known for never mincing words. For example, he recently got into a discussion with VTM 2 commentator Matthias De Vlieger.
Van der Voort had indicated as an analyst on Viaplay prior to the World Cup of Darts that Dimitri Van den Bergh and Kim Huybrechts had a fight, that their wives were involved and that Van den Bergh had even filed a complaint against Huybrechts with the PDC. Van der Voort also found it unacceptable that VTM 2 had barely elaborated on the incident.
De Vlieger let it be known afterwards that he felt this was inappropriate of Van der Voort to put out such news as a fellow darter.
During the podcast "Double Top," an initiative of De Vlieger and Damian Vlottes, Van der Voort was the central guest and the two laid out their feud. "If I'm an analyst at a station, I also want to give the full story," Van der Voort said. "After all, I had played Pro Tour the week before the World Cup of Darts and then I had seen Kim and Dimitri arguing with each other. If I don't say that, I get criticized by Viaplay afterwards as well."
"Let me start by saying that I like people with strong opinions," says De Vlieger. "But in Belgium we just handle privacy differently and that's why I didn't say much else about it at the time. But rest assured, I personally let both Kim and Dimitri know that I thought they handled this wrong."
