Wade battles past Lennon, Petersen eases through Hamilton test

James Wade and Devon Petersen are through to the second round at the European Championship after contrasting wins to begin their campaigns.

Wade saw off Steve Lennon in a tough first round assignment which went all the way down to a final leg once more. Lennon led to begin the tie going 1-0 up with an early break but this was soon pegged back by Wade.

It remained on throw throughout with the 2018 champion just claiming it down the stretch in the decider. He did so on double 18 with Lennon getting down from 145 to leave 86 to give himself an outside shout but second dart, 'The Machine' claimed it to win through.

While for Petersen, it was a 6-1 win as he eased past Andy Hamilton who lost out to the new first time European Tour winner.

A commanding win which saw four 180's and a 96 average. He restricted his opponent to only two darts at double with 'The Hammer' hitting 1/2 of them. This meant that despite only 5/14 from Petersen, it was a simple passage through in Oberhausen.
