Ian White and
Jose de Sousa are through to the second round at the
European Championship as the marathon session continues in Oberhausen with the latter hitting a nine-dart finish to begin his campaign.
White who has not been in the best form as of late eased past Mervyn King who has in a 6-2 win to potentially set up a tie next with Michael van Gerwen.
He began by easing into a 3-0 lead which included a brilliant 164 checkout but despite King breaking the throw with an 80 checkout to make it 3-1, White was straight back making it 4-1 at the interval.
He hit double eight to go one away and concluded it from there in style with a 143 checkout to move through.
This was followed up though by the brilliance of recent first time European Tour winner in De Sousa who saw off Jeffrey de Zwaan 6-3 with the crowning glory being the nine-dart finish.
Hit to go 2-0 up in the early going, he went 180, 177, 144 and from there carried on his momentum to conclude the tie with three 180's and a 95 average. 'The Special One' with a special start to the tournament.
