Wade has not been at his best this week but was dominant against Van Gerwen winning 7-3 with a 95 average, three ton plus checkouts and 7/13 on the doubles to deny Mighty Mike the chance to go top.
Wade produced a brilliant start to the tie hitting a 120 checkout to take the opening leg and headed into a 2-1 lead from there after Van Gerwen missed double 16 for a 74 checkout to break throw.
He consolidated that hold with a break at 3-1 but only after Van Gerwen missed two at double 20 to level hitting his trusty double 10 despite missing an initial opportunity at 120.
'The Machine' missed the bull for a 132 checkout but once again return for double 10 to move three ahead at 4-1 after Van Gerwen missed more darts to break back.
It could have been 5-1 with Wade missing bull for a 161 checkout and Van Gerwen hit 110 on double 16 to keep it interesting at 4-2.
But this didn't faze Wade who returned for a 121 checkout using T20, T7, D20 to go 5-2 up with a hold and towards at least a point.

Van Gerwen held himself with a 94 checkout but a 135 checkout secured Wade at least a point and he surged to the win from there.
