James Wade will now face off against Gerwyn Price in the semi-finals of the Grand Slam of Darts after a hard fought victory over Rob Cross 16-14 in another tight contest.
Wade spoke afterwards and lamented his display saying he was lucky to get through with the victory.
"Probably didn't deserve it but I did enough at the right times despite being buggered with a set of darts I wasn't ready for which probably caused a lot of panic on certain shots and scores and doubles. I was lucky to get away with it."
He also saw his darts break on him with his point coming off in the board which he was hugely frustrated about and said wasn't just a one time issue.
"It was awful, it's a set of darts, you should be able to retrieve your darts out the dartboard without the point snapping. It seems to be weird because in the last month to six weeks, I've had two points snap on me on similar occasions and I'm really frustrated with it. I play darts with a new set every tournament, my set of darts now that I'm using now for the tournament are perfect and all I do is retrieve them out of the dartboard and they snap. That needs to be addressed."
"It wasn't by quality, it wasn't by playing better, it was rubbish absolute rubbish. I was fortunate Rob bottled it as much as I did."
