Gerwyn Price is through to the semi-finals of the 2021
Grand Slam of Darts after getting revenge on his close friend,
Jonny Clayton for his defeat at the World Grand Prix.
Wayne Mardle gave his take on both players after the match and what they can take from the tie.
"It was 5-1 up, then it was 7-7, then it was 12-12. But Jonny was just chasing and when it was 12-12, I was thinking he's playing the better darts of the two but the last four legs of Price, we've said it before. He has that habit of getting through, getting through and then he shows the real Price and that was brilliant," said Mardle on Sky Sports.
"Jonny Clayton has not played his best there but he's still part of a magnificent game and he's pushed the World Number One and World Champion all the way and he's not been on top of his game. That's how good Jonny Clayton is."
In terms of Price, Mardle said he should be full of confidence albeit this is just a stepping stone to the ultimate goal.
"He's not in this to get through to the final and see how it goes, he's here to win it and that's a different mentality. This is just a step on the way."
"He now has to feel that he can win it. He didn't want that in poor fashion, he won it in emphatic fashion by winning the last four legs after being dragged back into another battle. He should be full of confidence."
