James Wade has snatched a draw against Premier League leader Nathan Aspinall to deny the former UK Open champion getting closer to the play-offs on Night 14.
Wade came from 7-5 down to draw 7-7 surviving a match dart against 'The Asp' who of course secures a point himself and could still remain top if Michael van Gerwen loses against Gary Anderson.
To begin the tie, it was Wade who started the better of the two with a 13-darter to begin the tie and he doubled his advantage with a second 180 and a 100 checkout.
Aspinall took out 81 on the bull to break throw though before levelling at 2-2 with a 105 average while Wade again was level despite an average of 116.
This turned into a lead for Aspinall who pounced after two missed darts at double 20 from Wade to lead 3-2.
But the back and forth continued with Aspinall squandering four darts at double 12 and Wade returned for double 10 to make it 3-3 and broke as a result before regaining the lead at 4-3 with a 61 checkout.
Aspinall produced a 120 checkout to make it 4-4 to keep on level terms. It was 'The Asp' though who went onto assure himself of a point.
Wade wired the bull for a 170 and Aspinall replied with an 81 checkout to lead 6-5 and he missed a further two once more and the Stockport ace was assured of a point at 7-5.
He couldn't complete the feat though as Wade claimed the final two legs to salvage a draw.
