De Sousa strengthens Premier League play-off push with big victory over Clayton

Jose de Sousa is up to second in the Premier League Darts table after seeing off Jonny Clayton in a big 8-5 victory with a 97 average and 57% on the doubles.

'The Special One' is living up to his moniker continuing to produce brilliant displays as he cements his push to be in the final four come finals night.

De Sousa started well as usual going 3-1 up on Clayton before 'The Ferret' kept himself involved with a 75 checkout.

Clayton took out 106 to reduce the deficit to 4-3 from there but De Sousa returned in kind with the same checkout to move further ahead at 5-3.

He couldn't shake the Masters champion off though with a 111 checkout to remain in contention at 5-4 down.

Clayton continued to stay a leg behind but De Sousa assured himself of at least a point once more at 7-5 up and he didn't have any issue finishing off with a 58 checkout sealing a full points haul for 'The Special One'.
