Wade to miss Premier League Darts in Sheffield as recovery from illness continues

James Wade will not compete at this week's Premier League Darts in Sheffield as he recovers from illness which was revealed on Wednesday morning.

Wade was taken ill at the European Darts Open and has been in hospital up until today when he returned to the UK and will now recuperate at home with no return date set as of yet.

"I'd like to thank all the medical staff for their care over the past few days and also to all the fans around the world who have sent messages of support," said Wade.

"Now that I'm home, I'll be taking time to recover fully before returning to playing when the time is right."

As a result under Premier League rules, Joe Cullen who still has a shout of the play-offs receives a 6-0 win and will face Gary Anderson or Gerwyn Price.
