Wales confident of World Cup of Darts glory after Scotland victory: "I think it could be a good year for us"

Wales pairing Gerwyn Price and Jonny Clayton have so far lived up to their favourites tag with a terrific display in the pairs decider to dump out defending champions Scotland at the World Cup of Darts.
A tie against Australia awaits in the Quarter-Finals and they believe that if they are both at their best, that there will only be one winner and a potential title awaits.
"We showed good teamwork there," said Price. "I think we were more consistent in the Pairs today and you can't argue with a 4-0 win.
"I think it could be a good year for us. We need to concentrate on our own games and hopefully we can bring our A-game tomorrow, but I don't think anyone has won a tournament without having a little bit of luck."
Clayton added: "I let Gezzy down today with my game against Robert. I was confident going into it but Rob did the job and I had to lift my head for the Pairs.
"Gerwyn's a brilliant captain and after the game with Robert he told me to get my head back up because we had another game to go, and we came through it.
"I'm feeling good and Gez is playing awesome. It's a big game tomorrow, and I think if we both bring our A-games, we're going to win that."

If it is going to be done to English players, then we are more than entitled to dish the same back when players face off in England. - I dont like individuals or crowds trying to put any player off when they are trying to check out, how anyone can think its okay for the crowd to whistle or shout as someone is throwing for a double is beyond me but it does seem to have become part and parcel of the modern game. I no longer play now, darts is as good as dead at a local level round my way but when i did play many years ago, no matter how intense the rivalry you never shouted out or whistled when an opponent from the other team was throwing for a double.Mysstree17-11-2024
