Dirk van Duijvenbode also won his third group match at the
Grand Slam of Darts. Aubergenius won 5-3 over Adam Gawlas to advance to the Last 16 as group winner.
Van Duijvenbode knew beforehand that he had to win four legs to become group winner. "You're working on that anyway. Adam wasn't playing for anything anymore and I was prepared for him to play well, after all, without pressure he always plays better. When I was on a double to win my fourth leg, he was acting like a clown for a bit. Fortunately I hit the double after all," Van Duijvenbode told Viaplay.
Better with pressure
"Actually, I am someone who performs better with my back against the wall," the 30-year-old Dutchman continued. "Now the stakes were actually low and then I am someone who soon starts thinking."
