Gerwyn Price claimed victory on Night 12 of the 2025 Premier League Darts. The Iceman defeated Luke Humphries 6-4 in the final in Liverpool, securing his third nightly win of the season. The result lifts Price to third place in the overall standings. After sixteen nights, the top four players will qualify for the playoffs at London’s O2 Arena. Following a dip in form, Price now looks to be back to his best.
Earlier in the night, Price had secured his spot in the final with a 6-2 win over Chris Dobey in the quarter-finals averaging 106.74, and then a 6-2 victory over Rob Cross in the semi-finals averaging 105.27. In the final, world number one Luke Humphries was the opposition but Price was again on top form, prevailing 6-4 to take the nightly win on Merseyside.
“I’m playing really well, so fingers crossed this year could be my year,” said the 2023 Premier League Darts runner-up Price in his post-match press conference with the assembled media afterwards. “I was under pressure to win my first game tonight and get some vital points on the board. I thought I played well in the first game, but after that I settled down a little bit and enjoyed myself, and it was a cracking game against Luke."
Other than the year he got to the final, Price has sometimes struggled for enjoyment during the rigours of a Premier League Darts campaign. This year however, there is a marked difference in the attitude of the Welshman.
“I just want to make the top four. It doesn’t matter if I’m first, second, third or fourth, as long as I’m at The O2 in a few weeks. That’s my priority," he says, having moved up to 3rd in the table after this win. “This eases the pressure on me going into next week, and when there’s no pressure on me, I’ll play some good darts!”
In fact, Price is of the belief that when he is playing his best darts, there is no one better on the planet. “When I’m on my game I am the best in the world,” he added. “I’m just a little inconsistent. If I keep pushing forward, there’s no reason why I can’t win the Premier League this season.”
