Whitlock battled past Hunt with an 87 average to continue his return to form this year against 'The Hunter' who has produced a good showing this week.
To begin the tie, Whitlock couldn't streak away and Hunt was firmly on his coattails at 3-2 down with 'The Wizard' down at just 3/14 on the doubles. This continued as Hunt hit a 112 checkout to make it 4-3.
Whitlock returned with a 116 checkout to go two clear at 5-3 up. At the next break, Whitlock led at 6-4 up keeping his lead despite not being at his best.
A passage of breaks of throw took place but this led to Whitlock claiming victory as he went away and won through 10-6.
