Whitlock, Ratajski and Chisnall among qualifiers for Grand Slam of Darts

Eight spots were up for grabs at the Grand Slam of Darts with the Qualifier opening proceedings up ahead of a week of action in Coventry and those have been confirmed.

They include Simon Whitlock, Krzysztof Ratajski and Dave Chisnall who all came through Last 16 ties to book their places.

Whitlock battled it out with Matthew Edgar but produced a stunning final leg on his throw to deny 'Prime Time' a return to the TV stage in a 5-3 win. Ricky Evans followed soon afterwards defeating Steve Beaton 5-2 to book his return to the Grand Slam for the first time since 2013.

Speaking of returns after a long time away, it has been seven years since Justin Pipe has played in this tournament but he booked his return with a 5-1 win over Ryan Searle.

Gabriel Clemens similar to Whitlock continued his form from the World Cup of Darts by defeating Rowby-John Rodriguez 5-0 with a 100.2 average.

From returns to debuts, Adam Hunt and Ryan Joyce will make their debuts with victories over Peter Jacques and Jason Lowe respectively.

While like alluded to Chisnall and Ratajski also made it through with the former taking out 100 in a deciding leg to see off Brendan Dolan 5-4, while it was a 5-2 success for 'The Polish Eagle' who was provisionally qualified but made sure of his place.
